Though many new release anime have become modern classics, there are some series that set the standard and still have a strong fan following. Nostalgia is a big motivating factor, and many fans who grew up with certain series still have a soft spot for classic characters and plots. Many modern anime couples build upon, or react against, other classic anime romances.
