Dragon Ball has an impressive legacy in the gaming industry and the franchise is set to celebrate one of its biggest releases in years when Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO redefines the fighting genre in October. Sparking! ZERO is the fourth entry in Dragon Ball’s successful Budokai Tenkaichi franchise, which hasn’t had a new entry in 14 years. Sparking! ZERO has confirmed a roster of over 164 characters – the largest for any Dragon Ball fighting game – which will pull from every entry in the franchise, including the upcoming Dragon Ball DAIMA.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO looks like it will feature incredible gameplay, groundbreaking visuals, and an innovative story mode that’s one big love letter to the series. 70 of Sparking! ZERO’s characters have already been confirmed, including some deeper cuts, like Ribrianne, Spopovich, Anilaza, Kakunsa, and Cui. This has triggered a lot of speculation over who else will be filling out the game’s sprawling roster and if some other obscure and overlooked individuals will make the cut.
Akira Toriyama has helped design many original characters for Dragon Ball video games in order to help further legitimize them and add something extra to the experience. Such is the case with Majin Ozotto, the final challenge in Dragon Ball Z: V.R.V.S, an obscure 1994 arcade game from Sega and Banpresto. Majin Ozotto appears to have taken inspiration from Cell’s original design, and he’s a dangerous demon with a voracious appetite who consumes entire planets. Majin Ozotto is powerful, but his greatest asset is that he can absorb individuals and then shapeshift into them, as well as split his bodies into different characters who can fight in different places at the same time.
