Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga!

While the main story of Jujutsu Kaisen reached its conclusion last year, the world Gege Akutami built has endless possibilities for further exploration. The sequel to the original story, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulomade its debut in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on September 7th, 2025. According to Akutami, the manga will likely run for at least six months, following another journey with new characters. The epilogue, which was included in the original manga’s final volume, already shared a brief glimpse at Yuta Okkotsu’s grandchildren, and we finally learn more about them in the sequel.

The story takes place in the year 2086, where the threat of the curse spirits and curse users is still a major issue, even 68 years after the Culling Game. The sequel primarily focuses on Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki. They meet Maru, short for Marulu Val Vol Yelvori, an extraterristrail being who is working with the Jujutsu sorcerers as an inspector on a case of missing children. Although the story has only just begun, it has covered a lot of plot points and set up the premise quite impeccably.

3) Japan Doesn’t Seem to Have Had a Major Incident After the Sukuna Raid

The world of Jujutsu Kaisen was never peaceful, but things went downhill after Yuji Itadori swallowed Ryomen Sukuna’s finger and became a vessel. It also didn’t help that Kenjaku, who has been living in the shadows for several centuries and waiting for the perfect time, continued his plan only after Yuji became a vessel. What followed was the rise of powerful special-grade curses, and then the Shibuya Incident, which was only the beginning of the nightmare.

The chaos continued in the Culling Game Arc and finally ended after the deaths of Sukuna and Kenjaku. The cycle of curses never ended, and there are still people falling victim to these supernatural creatures. However, at the very least, the past 68 years were incredibly calm compared to the main story. Unfortunately, that’s about to change after the arrival of the aliens, who pose a serious threat in Japan.

2) Japan Has Been Invaded by 50,000 Aliens

The most shocking part of the sequel is the existence of an alien race called Simurians, who have noticed that a small percentage of the Japanese population, known as the Jujutsu sorcerers, possess the same powers they have. Sorcerers are rare, and there aren’t enough of them to deal with all the threats in the entire country. However, they have piqued the interest of the Simurians, as nearly 50,000 of them have invaded Japan as refugees.

The reason they chose Japan is simply because the power of Jujutsu sorcerers is limited to there, and not the rest of the world. The invasion is declared as a special-grade incident, on the same level as the attack by Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. The protagonist, Maru, is working with the sorcerers incognito to see if they can co-exist. Although he was hiding his identity, he couldn’t help but use his third eye when the mission went awry and reveal himself to Yuka and Tsurugi.

However, considering Maru’s personality, he will have no problem blending in with the others. On the other hand, the real issue lies with the rest of the invaders, especially Maru’s supposed twin brother, who doesn’t appear to have good intentions. Not only that, but someone who looked exactly like Master Tengen was standing beside the Simurian, which is another thing the sequel must answer.

1) Yuka and Tsurugi Are Parallels of Their Grandparents

Yuta’s name is similar to her grandfather, Yuta Okkotsu, and she not only inherited his ring from her but also wears the same outfit. On the other hand, Tsurugi is a lot like Maki, since he also has a Heavenly Restricted Body, and he has a small amount of Cursed Energy, which he can use to perform New Shadow Style. Tsurugi doesn’t have his unique Cursed Technique, so he keeps training his body in order to become strong. He was forced to keep Yuta’s ring, which was taken away from Yuko, since the Gojo Clan deemed him weak and in need of a special-grade protective charm.

This was a huge blow to Tsurugi, and he swore to become stronger and return the ring to his sister. In a lot of ways, his determination to prove himself is just like Maki’s. Additionally, according to @lightningclare on X, a JJK translator, Yuka’s name has the same Kanji as Yuta’s, while Tsurugi’s name means serious, but its Kanji is the same as Maki and Mai’s
