More than five years after the manga’s ending, Demon Slayer is finally on its way to conclude the story in the anime adaptation. Instead of releasing new seasons, Ufotable decided to adapt the entire final arc into a film trilogy, which is expected to adapt both parts of the final arc: the Infinity Castle and the Sunrise Countdown. As the final showdown against Muzan had just begun, the Demon Slayers found themselves in the middle of an endless labyrinth called the Infinity Castle, which had been Muzan’s hideout for centuries. The demon progenitor has gathered the Upper Moons and all the demons there to wipe out the Demon Slayer Corps and capture Nezuko, who has conquered the sun.
The fight commences in the first installment of the trilogy, which is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on September 12th, 2025. While the final arc had many ups and downs, there are several things to look forward to, especially in the anime adaptation, since Ufotable is famous for elevating crucial scenes and making them more impactful than ever. Here’s a list of the three best things about the final arc that will be covered in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s trilogy.

3) Backstories Add Character Depth Even During Intense Battles

One of the most defining qualities of Demon Slayer is the backstories that always tug at the viewers’ heartstrings. The story is set in a brutal world where humans have suffered countless times because of these demons. Demons usually lose their memories as humans after transitioning, and can’t fight their instincts to kill and eat people. They are either forcefully turned into demons or they choose that path after being driven into a corner. This makes them just as tragic as ordinary humans, and the series has a way of exploring the emotional struggles of both the Corps members and the demons.
Because the Infinity Castle portrays several fights in a short amount of time, we see several backstories amid the intense battle. From Akaza’s heartbreaking past to witnessing the never-before-seen side of Yoriichi Tsugikuni through Kokushibo’s backstory, the story gives a lot of depth to these characters despite being restricted by having to balance between the fights and emotional moments. Kokushibo’s fight will likely be covered in the second installment, and it’s going to be even better than the first part. The stakes are higher than ever in the final battle, and there will be several scenes where you’ll be on the edge of your seats.
2) Most Fights Have a Much Deeper Meaning Than We See on the Surface

The first installment highlights three major fights: Giyu Tomioka and Tanjiro Kamado against Akaza, Shinobu Kocho facing off against Doma, and Zenitsu vs. Kaigaku. All these battles are carefully thought out by the creator since there are certain connections between these demons and their slayers.
Tanjiro has to avenge Kyojuro Rengoku’s death and defeat Akaza, while Shinobu has spent years of her life waiting for the right time to kill the demon who took her sister, Kanao’s life. Not only that, but Zenitsu also shares a complex past with Kaigaku. Additionally, even Muichiro Tokito, who fights Kokushibo in the Infinity Castle Arc, also had an unexpected connection to the demon.
1) A Bittersweet Epilogue Portraying the Era of Peace

Demon Slayer’s ending is the farthest thing from being a happy one. Almost the entire Corps was wiped out overnight when they fought against the demons. The final stretch was especially brutal, where they all combined their efforts just to make Muzan stay outdoors until the sunrise. It goes without saying that with more than half of the cast being dead, a lot of fan-favorite characters didn’t survive to witness the era of peace they gave up everything to fight for. They all had their dreams and wished to live in a world without the terror of demons.
After the tragedy, the Corps was disbanded, and the remaining members took their own paths in life. The vicious cycle of deaths and tragedies finally ended after Muzan disintegrated into nothing. Many famous series, such as Jujutsu Kaisen or Attack on Titan, leave some room for doubt with the cycle of tragedies continuing despite the sacrifices made by the characters. However, Demon Slayer didn’t go down that path since a brief epilogue takes us a few decades into the future, where Japan has undergone modernization.
We witness the descendants or reincarnations of the main characters, now living the peaceful lives they always wished for. What makes this epilogue particularly bittersweet is that they have no recollection of the events during the final battle against the demons. Calling them reincarnations is one way of putting that they are merely lookalikes, experiencing the life that the original Demon Slayers had long dreamed of. Even so, just watching the epilogue gives fans the closure they needed, and it proved that all those sacrifices weren’t meant for nothing.
