Almost every anime and manga enthusiast has watched, or at least heard of, the three classic series that are famously known as the Shonen Big Three. One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach quickly climbed their way to the top about two decades ago when long-running Shonen Jump series were all the rage. Each series provided something unique and set the standards for the future generation of manga. While One Piece is still ongoing and it’s currently the best-selling manga of all time, Naruto and Bleach ended their serialization several years ago. Their fanbases are still relevant to this day, referring to these series as the Big Three even now.
However, the anime and manga industry has changed a lot over the years, with many incredible series being introduced and sometimes even surpassing the popularity of these classics. The new manga series aren’t often long-running like the original Big Three, which is one of the reasons why the debate for a new Big Three has always been unsettled. A few years ago, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Demon Slayer would’ve filled in the spot, but now that these series are concluded, we have another list of newer ongoing titles that just keep gaining more popularity.
3) Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

With just one chapter, Jujutsu Kaisen Moduloa sequel to the original series, went viral and is already on the path to its success. The original manga ended only a year ago, and the anime has yet to release its third season, which is why the series still has a large, dedicated fanbase awaiting new projects from Gege Akutami. September 2025 came with a pleasant surprise as the franchise began another journey with new characters. The only downside is that the series will only be serialized for about six months, but that’s more than enough time to deliver a hype series.
Despite this short production period, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has plenty of potential to leave an impressive footprint, provided it continues to stick the landing. Its immediate #1 ranking on Manga Plus within its first week already places it comfortably among series either connected to Big Threes of the past or competitors for the title in their own rights. But it would be somewhat unprecedented, for sure, if Modulo’s relatively much shorter run were to attain such a title.
2) Kagurabachi

Kagurabachi debuted two years ago, and it was trending even before the first chapter was released. Many believed the series’ hype would die down over time, but it only continued to grow, and now there are rumors circulating about an anime adaptation. The series has been on a roll since the first chapter, blending fantasy in a modern setting with a unique but complex power system. Apart from One Piecewhich has a whole other status in Weekly Shonen Jump, Kagurabachi is one of the leading series, and it’s at the peak of its popularity.
1) Ichi the Witch

Ichi the Witch is comparatively newer than Kagurabachi since it just commemorated its first anniversary. Even so, the series is already competing with some of the big names in the industry in terms of sales and hype. Ichi the Witch’s biggest selling point isn’t simply its unique premise and power system in a world of magic, but also Desscaras, the deuteragonist of the series, the gorgeous and most powerful witch. The series has laid out its foundation, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if it announced an anime adaptation next year.
