3 Underused Jutsu Naruto Should Have Featured More

One of the elements that helped make Naruto become a juggernaut in the shonen world was not just thanks to its characters, but the wild attacks that were born from the ninjutsu commonly referred to as “jutsus”. While major attacks like Naruto’s Rasengan and Sasuke’s Chidori routinely make the rounds in the franchise, there have been quite a few attacks that fell by the wayside. Bearing this in mind, now seems the right time to venture into Naruto’s past and pick three of the most underused jutsu that could really use a revival.

Rock Lee’s Drunken Fist

While this attack does not give Rock Lee the ability to transform into a ninja with a fox-fueled energy suit and/or create a giant meteor in the sky, the taijutsu attack is one of the most memorable the ninja has used. Unfortunately, we’ve only seen Lee use this power in the original Naruto series when he fought the bone-wielding Kimimaro. Thanks to this Drunken Fist, Lee became a powerhouse without even being fully conscious of what he was doing.

Lee has pretty much refrained from drinking in his ninja career, as he did so while fighting Orochimaru’s henchman due to picking up the wrong container. Rock would eventually “sober up” and find himself at a disadvantage in the fight, but he was eventually saved when Gaara hit the scene. In the Boruto series, Rock Lee hasn’t appeared that often, instead handing off the torch to his son, Metal Lee. Hopefully, at least one of the Lees will bring back the Drunken Fist as it’s a jutsu worth revisiting.

Body Pathway Derangement Jutsu

When Tsunade was first introduced in the Naruto franchise, she was more than capable of being a Hokage in the power department alone. Based on her medical experience, the Fifth Hokage was able to develop jutsu that few others could even comprehend. One of these is the “Body Pathway Derangement Jutsu” which proved how you could blend biological know-how with devastating physical attacks.

Tsunade employed this technique while fighting against Kabuto, Orochimaru’s former right hand, delivering a blow of electricity that debilitated the antagonist. Said energy would flow through the target’s nervous system, disrupting their ability to move, let alone unleash an attack. Much like Rock Lee, Tsunade hasn’t appeared that often in either Boruto: Naruto Next Generations or Boruto: Two Blue Vortexbut seeing this jutsu used by either Sakura or Sarada might be a way to revive the technique.

Clone Great Explosion

Bandai Namco

This technique, if Naruto or Boruto learned it, might just be a game-changer for the Hidden Leaf Village and the Ninja World. Surprisingly enough, the technique was employed by Sasuke’s brother, Itachi Uchiha, who created clones that could explode when the right time arose. Even with his numerous abilities born from his bloodline and the Sharingan, it was clear that the man who murdered his clan was keeping busy to make sure he would remain as deadly as ever.

Of course, relying on Itachi to do this jutsu in the future might be a little tricky, considering he’s six feet under, but this doesn’t mean the move can’t be transferred to someone else. There are still a few examples of Uchiha that still wander the Earth, though at no point was it confirmed that only a Uchiha could create an exploding clone. Fingers crossed that, should Boruto Uzumaki ever need an upgrade, he might add a little extra dynamite to each of their forms.
