7 Anime Villains Who Could Beat Doctor Doom

Dr. Doom is about to become one of the biggest villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, already having made his debut in Fantastic Four: First Steps and set to be the “big bad” of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. These appearances are but a small sampling of Victor Von Doom’s villainous career, having plagued superheroes for decades at this point. While not appearing in many anime productions, there are some villains in the medium that would manage to put the good Doctor in his place, despite his wild power. While tough to narrow it down to seven, these anime villains are the cream of the crop.

To start, let’s lay down some ground rules: both combatants will be placed in front of one another without any “prep time” and/or knowledge of one another’s powers or characters. This makes for a somewhat even fight as Doom, with prep time, might just be an unbeatable character on the same level as DC’s Dark Knight. If you’re unfamiliar with Dr. Doom’s powerset, there’s a lot to keep in mind for the fights. Victor doesn’t just have a suit of armor on par with Tony Stark’s; he also has magic abilities that place him on an even playing field with Dr. Strange. This doesn’t even touch upon his keen analytic mind, which makes him a worthy rival to Marvel’s smartest hero, Reed Richards. There might be a lot of anime villains to choose from, but the vast majority of antagonists would fall before Doom, so let’s get started.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s God Brando

As a giant Doom fan, I can see the argument as to how Dio Brando would lose this fight, but Brando’s ability to stop time with his Stand, “The World” would be enough to score him a victory in my mind. While Doom’s defenses might cause some problems for the biggest villain of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventurewe have to imagine that he’d work his way past the armor thanks not only to his Stand’s strength, but his own power as a vampire. Considering that Brando can stop time with little to no rest, we have to imagine that even if he weren’t able to kill Victor during the first time freeze, he would eventually deliver a killing blow. This fact is made especially true if the two combatants are placed directly in front of one another, and since Doom doesn’t know of the power of the Ripple, that’s another win for Dio.

Naruto’s Madara Uchiha

While you could make the argument that Kaguya would be a better opponent to defeat Doom, we have a soft spot for the man who started the Uchiha Clan. Madara Uchiha would immediately take Doom to task with a flurry of jutsu that would completely leave the good doctor unable to keep up with the assault. Even some of Victor’s sorcery techniques, such as his ability to swap bodies, would run into issues thanks to Madara’s Sharingan and Rinnegan eyes. Even with Doom’s armored defenses, Madara might be able to completely tear his way through everything Vic has to offer in quick succession.

Berserk’s Griffith/Femto

Now, if Griffith were to attempt to fight Victor Von Doom before the events of Berserk’s Eclipse, we can’t imagine he would last long against the Latverian ruler. When he became Femto, however, the villain was granted a power that makes him a god. Standing alongside the other members of the Godhand, Griffith has become a powerhouse who stands toe-to-toe with some of the biggest villains in anime history. To date, we still aren’t quite entirely sure just how powerful each member of the Godhand is, but there has yet to be any character that has defeated them or even injured them in any way, so far. We have to imagine that Femto’s god-like abilities will bring Doom low in their fight.

One-Punch Man’s Garou

Garou, in the second and third seasons of One-Punch Manmight not be strong enough to punch Dr. Doom’s ticket, but the heights the hero killer eventually hits would make him powerful enough to defeat the Fantastic Four’s greatest foe. Without diving too deep into spoiler territory for One-Punch Man fans who have yet to read the manga, the villain hits a power level that would make him crush his Marvel opponent in a one-on-one fight. Even with some god-like abilities of his own at his disposal, Doom would fall before Garou at his peak, though this doesn’t mean that Saitama would do the same.

Dragon Ball Z’s Kid Buu

While there are plenty of Dragon Ball Z villains that could punch Doom’s ticket, we have to go with the strongest of the bunch. Kid Buu wouldn’t just overpower Victor in the strength department; we have to imagine that Doom’s magical abilities would be useless thanks to Kid Buu’s regeneration and general durability during a fight. Considering that the shonen villain can also move at light speed, we have to imagine that the Latverian despot would be unable to have enough time to even form a worthy strategy to defeat the pink nightmare. In this case, Buu’s ruthlessness and his general lack of intelligence will be one of his greatest strengths in this bout.

One Piece’s Blackbeard

Considering we have yet to see just what the villainous Imu can do in battle in One Piece’s final saga, we had to go with the next best thing. Marshall D. Teach, aka Blackbeard, chowed down on two Devil Fruits, giving him powers that would be enough to defeat Dr. Doom in a one-on-one fight. The Dark-Dark Fruit allows Teach to control darkness and even transform into it, which wouldn’t necessarily score him the win, but his mastery of gravity, thanks to the Tremor-Tremor Fruit and his Haki energy, makes for a wild combination. On top of these powers, Blackbeard’s cunning and his ruthlessness might rival that of Doom’s, scoring him the win across the board.

Yuji Itadori’s darker half would simply be too much for Dr. Doom to handle, even with his magical abilities. Sukuna is a force of nature, and we have to imagine that even Victor’s armor wouldn’t withstand the sheer amount of devastating cuts that would overwhelm him. Without going into spoiler territory for those who haven’t read Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga, even characters established as some of the shonen universe’s strongest have fallen before the dark curse. Luckily, we won’t be waiting long to see Sukuna’s return as he’ll be returning to the screen before Doom does.
