7 Biggest Moments We’re Looking Forward to in One Piece Season 2

The second season of Netflix’s One Piece is jam-packed with actors who will help expand the live-action world of the Grand Line. This makes sense considering that the upcoming episodes are planning to cover quite a bit of territory when it comes to Eiichiro Oda’s shonen masterpiece. While the first season made some changes to the original manga, the Netflix production has worked quite well in honoring the source material. Thanks to the second season promising to stick to its roots, here are seven of the biggest moments we can’t wait to see translated to the “real world.”

The Straw Hats Visit Loguetown

One of the biggest locales that Monkey D. Luffy and his crew visit is Loguetown, the place where Gol D. Roger met his end and encouraged future pirates to discover his treasure. On top of being fit to bursting with history, the environment has plenty of emotional moments for our anime heroes, to say nothing of fighting against the likes of Smoker, Buggy, and Alvida. Loguetown is a legendary place for the Straw Hats to visit before diving right into the Grand Line, and it makes for the perfect place for the second live-action season to start. On top of everything mentioned, Loguetown feels like the place where anime fans could truly see Luffy taking on the crown as the King of the Pirates.

Scaling The Reverse Mountain

While fighting against limb-manipulating circus clowns and sharkmen from the depths of the sea is scary enough on its own, the Straw Hats’ arrival at Reverse Mountain goes to show just how big things can get in the Going Merry’s adventure. Luckily, One Piece fans were able to get a brief glimpse of “Reverse Mountain” in the recent trailer for the second season, along with the monstrous Laboon. The giant whale creates both a sticky predicament for Luffy and company, while also delivering a tear-jerking story that acts as an emotional roadblock before hitting the Grand Line. The mini-storyline also introduces anime fans to the likes of Crocus, Ms. Wednesday, and Mr. 9, expanding on the shonen universe.

Luffy Vs. Zoro

When the Straw Hat Pirates arrive in Whiskey Peak, they are greeted with a strange sight: a town that apparently has a fondness for the pirates sailing the Grand Line. Hailing them as heroes, Luffy and his friends get the chance to kick back, eat, and drink to their hearts’ desire, and be shown the respect they have yet to find once they hopped aboard the Going Merry. Thanks to a series of unfortunate events and hilarity, Luffy and Zoro come to blows in a moonlight fight that is sure to be a sight to behold in the live-action adaptation. Both the green-haired swordsman and the rubber swashbuckler have had their powers well displayed in the live-action series so far, and Netflix will have their work cut out for them in this season two brawl.

Dorry And Brogy’s Giant Battle

Netflix

Dorry and Brogy are personal favorite One Piece characters for yours truly, with the “friendly” never-ending fight between the two giants remaining one of the biggest aspects of Little Garden. The giants from Elbaf are locked in an eternal struggle, not just shaking the ground but lighting an inspirational fire inside of Usopp that helps to forge the Straw Hat sniper. The Netflix live-action adaptation has proven that it is more than willing to focus on some of the wilder aspects of the Grand Line, but seeing the giants doing battle is going to be a peak moment for yours truly in next year’s second season.

The Fight Against Mr. 3

When we originally heard that Dark Knight, The Suicide Squad actor David Dastmalchian was taking on the role of Mr. 3 in One Piece season two, we knew that Baroqueworks would be a wild gang of villains for the Straw Hat Pirates. Mr. 3’s Devil Fruit powers allow him to manipulate candle wax, using it in ways that are both detrimental to Luffy and company and a sight to behold for shonen fans. The display of the Barqueworks member’s abilities, should it stick to the source material, will be as dangerous as they are dazzling, and we can’t wait to see how they operate in the Netflix series. There is also a part of us that simply cannot wait to see how on Earth they pull off Dastmalchian’s hair as the live-action anime character.

Dr. Hiriluk Embraces Tony Tony Chopper

We can’t just list Tony Tony Chopper as a “moment” unto himself, so we picked the most heart-wrenching moment from his Drum Island flashback we can’t wait to see. While One Piece’s second season has already given us a look at the reindeer doctor, we have yet to witness the live-action emotional side of the future Straw Hat Pirate. Fear not, Grand Line fans, because the upcoming second season will have that in spades, specifically when it comes to Chopper retrieving an Amiudake mushroom for his beloved mentor, Dr. Hiluluk. Bruised and beaten almost to the point of death, the emotional moment is sure to be one of the best for One Piece’s return on Netflix.

Luffy Protects The Flag

Talk about one of the biggest examples of Luffy “aura farming.” Considered one of the Straw Hat Captain’s greatest moments, the fight against Wapol and his minions on Drum Island puts Monkey’s commitment to the pirate life to the test. Rather than seeing the swashbuckler flag destroyed, Luffy takes on a blast that would be sure to eliminate far weaker travelers in the Grand Line. The image alone remains an iconic one for the shonen series, and imagining Inaki Godoy striking this pose is surely something that many One Piece fans have been waiting for.
