Spy x Family is finally coming back for a new season as part of the jam packed Fall 2025 anime schedule, so it’s time to go back into previous episodes to get ready for what’s next. Spy x Family Season 3 is going to be bringing back the Forger Family to the spotlight after a couple of years of being away, and with it fans will be thrown right back into the chaos of their shared lives. Spy missions, assassinations, and psychic powers abound as there is a whole new season of adventures coming our way with new episodes hitting next month.
Spy x Family Season 3 is going to pick up right from where Season 2 left off as it takes on the next major steps of Tatsuya Endo’s original manga series. With the new season making its debut with Crunchyroll and Hulu on October 4th, it’s now a great time to go back and check out some of the key episodes that best serve to showcase what has made this anime such a hit through what has been released thus far. Read on for our picks of some of the best Spy x Family episodes to watch before jumping into Season 3 when it premieres this Fall.

7.) Spy x Family Code: White
This one is a bit of a cheat as it’s not exactly one of the episodes, but instead is the original feature film released after the second season. Spy x Family Code: White tells an original story not seen in Tatsuya Endo’s original manga, but it’s a perfect way to get back into the mood of the franchise. There’s a chance you might have missed its short run in theaters, so now is the perfect time to check it out. It’s self contained and won’t have any bearing on anything that comes after, but it’s a great showcase for each member of the Forger Family with some of the biggest action set pieces in the franchise in terms of overall scope.

6.) Operation Strix – Season 1, Episode 1
Another great way to get back up to speed is to go all the way back to the beginning. The very first episode of Spy x Family introduces fans to its central premiere of a spy needing to start a fake family in order to get closer to their political target. The plan is to get a child enrolled in a very famous school, and do so well that the spy naturally can connect with the target, and here fans get to see Twilight in all of his spy glory. But the real hook comes early on when he’s introduced to his new adopted daughter, Anya, who secretly uses her psychic powers to sneak into his good graces (and hide her actual terrible abilities in school). It’s the start of a much bigger adventure to come.

5.) Show Off How In Love You Are – Season 1, Episode 9
One of the core elements that keeps fans coming back to Spy x Family is the central fake relationship between a spy and an assassin. Both deciding to marry in order to cover up their careers and real goals, this episode forces the two of them to actually pretend they are in love with some outward affection. At this point in the anime’s first season, Loid and Yor are still getting to know one another and this was the first sign fans had that there might be something actually romantic underneath their lies. It’s that back and forth that has only developed further through the years, and it helps to get a reminder of how strongly it all kicked off in the first place.

4.) The Symphony Upon the Ship – Season 2, Episode 8
With Yor being an assassin, one thing that Spy x Family fans had been especially waiting to see was her taking on a full mission. This happens at a very crucial point of Season 2 as she gets an entire arc to herself, and fans get to see just how wickedly good she is at killing. This arc then comes to an explosive climax with some very bloody fights one after another, and it really is Yor at her most fierce. It’s something that we have rarely gotten to see with the anime thus far, and hopefully will get to see again with the new season of episodes coming our way.

3.) Part of the Family – Season 2, Episode 12
The last major addition to the Forger family comes at the end of Season 2’s final big arc, as their dog Bond gets shuffled into the fold. A dog who surprisingly has the ability to see into the future ends up connecting with Anya because she can read his mind. Not only is he an adorable new addition to the series, but his connection to the wider Project Apple mystery is something we all need to keep an eye out for as it develops. Whatever happened to Bond has some kind of tie to the experiments done on Anya, and it all will eventually be revealed as the anime continues.

The most important episode of the first season came right at the end when Loid finally made “first contact” with his intended target, Donovan Desmond. He’s been notoriously hard to connect with before, and thanks to Anya and Eden Academy, Loid was finally able to make his first real move toward getting some very important intel. It was also the episode that really cemented the kind of stakes that Operation Strix was operating under this entire time, and teased that this would be a much more arduous mission than Loid might have been prepared for. One that’s going to need all members of the Forger Family to keep going as long as they possible can.

1.) Follow Mama and Papa – Season 2, Episode 1
But while all of its overarching stories are important to building towards whatever grand plan the anime has in place, what makes Spy x Family so special are the smaller adventures that just follow the members of the family during regular activities. The Season 2 premiere has a pretty great example of this that also combines some elements of Yor’s assassin life into it. Yor and Loid decide to go out on a date, but she’s dealing with an injury the whole time and thus keeps making a terrifying face that Loid can’t figure out the source of. All the while, Anya is tailing the two of them and living out her spy fantasies. Spy x Family Season 3 will likely start with a low stakes fun episode like this, so this premiere is a great way to get back into the mood.
