Summer 2025 is now days away, and it’s going to be packed with both exciting sequels and new anime. While there are many promising debuts (such as Gala, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, The Summer Hikaru Diedto name a few), here we will look into all the shows that are returning, whether after a single-season break or after up to 15 years.
Thirteen of the anime will stream on Crunchyroll, with the only ones that won’t being Call of the Night Season 2 (HIDIVE), New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT (Prime Video), and SAKAMOTO DAYS (Netflix).
With that said, here are all the anime sequels coming next season, while you can also still vote for your most anticipated anime of Summer 2025.
16 Upcoming Anime Sequels to Catch Next Season | Summer 2025
Moving on to an anime for which we didn’t have to wait long, And Da and is back with Season 2 following its debut from last year. We’ve had the chance to interview Co-Director Abel Góngora, who is joining last season’s Fuga Yamashiro, as well as the main voice cast trio of Abby Trott, AJ Beckles, and Aleks Le.
What they’ve all made clear is that there’s plenty to look forward to, and we can’t wait to catch the anime from July 3. Two new trailers were also released for the anime recently, and the anime will stream on Crunchyroll, Netflix and Hulu. Hulu also confirmed in its July listings that Season 2 will premiere with same-day English dubs.
The cosplay romance has also had a sizable break, coming back over 3 years since Season 1 (which ranked as the Winter 2022 best non-sequel anime).
Studio CloverWorks and most of the staff are returning. The opening song will be “Ao to Kirameki” by Spira Spica, while a new idol unit was formed for the ending song “Kawaii Kawaii.” Coming on July 5.
Moving on to another show from CloverWorks coming on July 5, Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus is actually only the second TV anime for the franchise. The first season aired in 2018, after which we got the three movies:
- Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (Volumes 6-7)
- Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out (Volume 8)
- Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid (Volume 9)

Dr. Stone: Science Future (Season 4) is also coming back with Cour 2 after a 3-month break. Studio TMS Entertainment is animating, with the anime previously confirmed to run for 3 split cours. KANA-BOON is performing the theme song for the new part, which premieres on July 10.
Kaiju No. 8 anime is also one of the Summer 2025 sequels coming after a short break. The manga is now 1 chapter away from ending, and there is also a game adaptation launching later this year.
The anime will be streaming on Crunchyroll and X worldwide, with Netflix streaming it in some regions in Asia. Production I.G is again handling the animation.
Following Dr. STONE from Winter 2025, SAKAMOTO DAYS is also set to continue after a 3-month break as another one of the Summer 2025 anime sequels. Studio TMS Entertainment is back to handle the animation, with recent cast additions including Daiki Yamashita as Mafuyu Seba, M.A.O as Akira Akao, and Mamiko Noto as Rion Akao.
The anime is coming to Netflix on July 14, with fans in Japan getting a double-episode premiere and a 1-week early schedule compared to global fans
Call of the Night Season 2 anime is coming exactly 3 years since the first season, which aired in Summer 2022. Studio LIDEN FILMS is again handling the animation, with a new song by Creepy Nuts as the opening. The anime will be streaming on HIDIVE from July 4.
Naofumi is coming back after about a year and a half in The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4, which is the first of several isekai anime sequels of Summer 2025 on the list. With Raphtalia revealed to be of royal blood, her homeland sent assassins to eliminate her, forcing Naofumi into action against Q’ten Lo.
The anime premieres on July 9, with Kinema Citrus again in charge of the animation.
Another isekai anime, I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince is coming back with Season 2 to air in the Summer 2025 season alongside Kaiju No. 8just like in Spring 2024. This anime will put some focus on two new characters: Escher (CV: Manaka Iwami), a sister with a beautiful singing voice, Saria (CV: Minami Tsuda), Lloyd’s older sister who is knowledgeable about music.
Nako Misaki also joined the anime as the voice of Lami, and we’ll be able to watch the show from July 9. Studio Tsumugi Akita Anime Lab is back to handle the animation
The third and final of the Summer 2025 isekai anime sequels, Boxxo and Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon are also coming back with Season 2. The sequel is coming exactly 2 years since the first season, which aired in Summer 2023. Studios Gokumi and AXsiZ are returning to animate, with the anime set to premiere on July 2.
Arknights: RISE FROM EMBER (Season 3) is coming on July 4, featuring theme songs by ReoNa and Hana Itoki. The anime adaptation began with Arknights: PRELUDE TO DAWNwhich premiered in October 2022, followed by Arknights: PERISH IN FROST in October 2023.
Back to the romcoms, A Couple of Cuckoos is another anime returning from 2022. Season 2 of the anime aired in the spring season that year, which means it has been over 3 years. Hina Yomiya recently joined the voice cast as Ai Mochizuki, and it has an ending theme song “Anata de nakucha” by 22/7.
The opening theme “Kimi ga Kureta Mono” (“What You Gave Me”) by asmi was previewed in the main trailer, which you can watch below.
Rent a Girlfriend is coming back as part of the Summer 2025 anime sequels, with Season 4 set to premiere on July 1. Date visuals for each of the girls (Chizuru, Mami, Ruka, Sumi, and Mini) were released, and we have no doubt Kazuya will make no progress.
Studio TMS Entertainment is again in charge of the animation.
Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Season 2 is set to continue on July 6 with Part 2, which was announced immediately after Episode 12 as a continuation of the second season rather than a separate Season 3.
Yohei Fukui is directing the anime at studio Lerche.
And lastly, New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT is the anime coming after the absolute longest break on this list. The first season of the anime aired over 15 years ago, running from in the Fall 2022 season.
The project is being produced by Studio TRIGGER, which took over the rights to the series from GAINAX in 2023. Director Hiroyuki Imaishi is returning alongside co-directors Hiromi Wakabayashi and Akira Furukawa. There will be a censored and uncensored version in Japan.
