Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle has finally opened in United States theaters, boosting one of the biggest anime openings in the country. The film opened to a staggering $70 million at the US box office, surpassing the previous record for any anime movie and earning the biggest opening for an R-rated animated film. Demon Slayer: The Movie – Infinity Castle was released with Japanese subtitles and an English dub, featuring the returning English voice actors from the Demon Slayer anime. However, the movie also included new actors joining the cast, one of whom is a big Hollywood movie star.

Distributors Crunchyroll and Sony Entertainment shocked audiences when they announced that actor Channing Tatum would be providing voice work for Demon Slayer: The Movie – Infinity Castle. The actor has expressed being a fan of anime, having watched anime with his daughter, Everly. Channing attended the red carpet US premiere of the film, bringing Everly with him. The Tatums were interviewed by Entertainment Tonight, who asked the pair about any anime recommendations. While both discussed how much they enjoy the Demon Slayer anime, Everly provided a surprising answer that Channing agreed with. The Tatums revealed they are fans of Black Clover.

Black Clover Fans Want Channing Tatum To Play Yami

After his successful stint voicing Keizo in the Demon Slayer English dub, Black Clover fans responded on social media to push his name forward to play Yami, either in a future English dub or in a live-action adaptation:

Black Clover has garnered a loyal fan base, with many praising its characters and storyline development. It appears that Channing and his daughter are within the fan base. The anime has been running since 2017, and the manga has been published since 2015. The series remains fairly popular, despite what detractors claim. Besides attending the red carpet, footage of Tanning voicing his Demon Slayer character has been released by Crunchyroll.

Black Clover is a shonen series about magic users. Pierrot Studios, the same company behind Naruto, YuYu Hakushoand Tokyo Ghoulproduces the anime adaptation for Black Clover. Despite running for 170 episodes and still ongoing, Black Clover has often been perceived with mixed reception by the hardcore audiences. Many harsher critics of the series view it as derivative of previous shonen action shows, following a similar premise to Naruto and One Piece. Black Clovers follows the adventures of Asta, a young boy who wants to be the next Wizard King. This concept is very similar to Naruto’s ambition to become the next Hokage and Luffy’s dream of being the Pirate King in One Piece. Pierrot is also commonly viewed as a lower-quality studio, delivering animation with poorer quality compared to the more prestigious studios.

Channing had previously brought Everly to other anime red carpet premieres, with the pair seen together at the premieres for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba -To The Hashira Training. The actors’ presence at these anime premieres was likely the impetus that contributed to Crunchyroll casting Tatum in the new Demon Slayer movie. Infinity Castle is planned to be a trilogy of films meant to close out the series.
