In the animation game, Apple TV+ hasn’t exactly been keeping in step with streaming platforms like Crunchyroll, Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney+, and more. While the Apple streaming service has its fair share of critically acclaimed live-action series, original anime and animated properties are fewer and more far between. Luckily, a major animated franchise is planning to remain on Apple TV+ for the long haul. While it might not be an anime, said animated franchise has been a part of North American culture for quite some time, and Apple will be the exclusive place to watch it for years to come.
Peanutsthe comic strip franchise that introduced fans to the likes of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, and all their friends, will remain on Apple TV+ all the way until 2030. Apple first kicked off its collaboration with Peanuts in 2018, creating original animated works to focus on the Charlie Brown gang, going on to acquire the entire animated library of the franchise in 2020. Ever since, the pair have been working hand-in-hand to bring animation fans new looks at all things Peanuts. Ironically enough, this deal might continue as Apple is currently working on an original Peanuts animated film, which was first announced in 2023, though a release date for this movie remains a mystery.
Peanuts And Apple: A Match Made In Heaven
Speaking with the outlet Variety, Apple TV+’s head of children’s programming, Tara Sorensen, stated the following about Peanut’s bright future, “In this milestone 75th anniversary year, it feels incredibly meaningful to continue our collaboration with our brilliant partners at WildBrain, Peanuts Worldwide, and Lee Mendelson. Our commitment, dedication, and passion for ‘Peanuts’ runs deep. These beloved characters and stories hold a timeless significance, resonating with people of all ages across the globe. And we are delighted that the iconic holiday specials will be available for everyone to experience, continuing this time-honored, comforting tradition.”
Luckily, even if you aren’t an Apple TV+ subscriber, there are several Charlie Brown-focused animated features you will be able to check out for free this holiday season. The entries include “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” from October 18th to the 19th, “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” from November 15th to 16th, and finally, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” from December 13th to 14th.
As mentioned earlier, Peanuts has been a part of the American zeitgeist for decades, first premiering as a comic strip in 1950 from creator Charles M. Schulz. Even decades following Schulz’s passing, the franchise has marched forward with new projects to explore Charlie Brown’s world. Considering how big the series remains, it makes sense that Apple TV+ would want to “re-up” their streaming deal with the franchise. Even with Peanuts continuing on the platform, the animation medium has drastically decreased in 2025 versus recent years. Apple TV+’s roster in 2022 and 2023 saw almost double the number of animated series created for the platform than in 2024 and 2025.
