The Japanese animation studio Pierrot named itself in the run-up to the excited fourth part of “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood” was officially over-but the new name should not be strange for fans. We summarize.
Return to the founding spirit
Since August 1, 2025, this for series such as “Bleach”, “Naruto”, “Black Clover” and “Kingdom” has been officially operated under the name “Studio Pierrot Co., Ltd.” and no longer under “Pierrot Co., Ltd.”.
Even if the name change may have a slight effect at first glance, the company was already registered in the first decades after its foundation in 1979 under “Studio Pierrot Co., Ltd.”. Therefore, this step in the announcement is described as a return to your own roots:
»In recent years, the anime industry has undergone profound changes, for example through studio takeovers and restructuring. For this reason, we decided to return to our roots. Under the name ›Studio Pierrot‹, our employees come together again to confirm our endeavors to create works of even higher quality. «
The change of name is another strategic step of the studio in order to adapt to the modern anime industry. This also includes cooperation with Red Dog Culture House and Asahi Productions and the founding of the new subsidiary Pierrot Films. The company had admitted a few months ago that it had fallen behind the competition in certain areas.
The fourth part of »Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War« is expected to start on Japanese television in the course of next year. A specific date has so far been pending. We keep you up to date as usual.
