Minyoung Kim, Vice President of Content for Asia at Netflix, said a few days ago that the company was working towards establishing itself as a leading provider of anime content. We summarize below.

Netflix ‘big anime plans

The corresponding statements fell as part of an interview in which Minyoung Kim spoke together with Yuuji Yamano, Director of Content Japan at Netflix, about the current role of the streamer and the planned goals in the anime sector.

Yamano initially emphasized some “key moments” that focused on the anime area at Netflix more-including the success of the martial arts series “Baki”, which will soon be continued, and later “My Happy Marriage”.

The latter title in particular won a large viewer and at the same time increased the sales figures of the manga adaptation based on the Light-Novel series. For this, the Kadokawa publisher expressly thanks Netflix.

Direct availability in various settings was an important factor for success. Netflix recently announced that 80 to 90 % of the spectators would prefer synchronization in their own language.

In order to continue to advance the anime content on Netflix, the streaming service wants to invest more in the future and offer a wider range of new stories in the future. The goal is to make Netflix the world’s leading anime provider.
