What happens when a group of animated heartthrobs swoops in and starts climbing the charts faster than real-life Kpop legends? You get Kpop Demon Hunters, Netflix’s hit animated film, and its unexpectedly chart-topping fictional boy group, the Saja Boys.

Released on June 20, the movie follows a supernatural storyline featuring two rival Kpop groups, the mysterious HUNTR/X and the hypnotic Saja Boys. But what started as pure fiction has now crossed into real-world dominance. As of July 3, the Saja Boys’ track “Your Idol” hit No. 2 on Spotify’s U.S. chart, pushing BTS’s “Dynamite” No. 3 record down. That makes “Your Idol” the highest-ranking song ever by a Kpop boy group on the platform in the U.S.

Yes, you read that right. A group that doesn’t technically exist just outperformed the world’s biggest Kpop act. No wonder director Maggie Kang is calling for a BTS x Saja Boys collab. Honestly? We’d stream that into oblivion.

The Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack isn’t just a one-hit wonder either. It debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 for the week of July 5, marking the highest debut of any soundtrack in 2025 so far. With 31,000 equivalent units and 3,000 sales, this album is making serious waves.

The soundtrack includes original songs by the fictional idols, voiced by real-life talents like Andrew Choi, Kevin Woo, and Neckwav. Meanwhile, HUNTR/X, the girl group counterpart, is right behind with their track “Golden,” now tied with BLACKPINK for the highest-charting U.S. Kpop girl group song ever.

And this is not just about the numbers. The vibe of “Your Idol” is dark, catchy, and weirdly hypnotic. Co-writer EJAE revealed that she took inspiration from EXO’s “MAMA” and “Obsession,” blending eerie harmonies and reversed Latin chants to reflect the song’s message about idol worship and obsession.

So while the Saja Boys might not be signing autographs in real life anytime soon, their impact is already shaking up the industry. BTS mentioned in a livestream that they’ll be back in 2026 to reclaim their throne. Until then, it looks like the charts belong to the demons.
