As we approach the release date of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arcmore news about the film is being announced. MAPPA Studio has already revealed and teased out the opening and ending themes for the movie, performed by musicians Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada. The studio has now announced that “HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI (2-hundred-million-centimeter-long blades)” will be an insert song for the Chainsaw Man movie. The song was previously used as the ending of the third episode of the Chainsaw Man anime, performed by Japanese metal band Maximum the Hormone. However, the band confirmed the version played for the anime was only a 90-second edited version.

Guitarist for the band, Maximum the Ryokun, shared a message about the crew’s involvement with the Chainsaw Man series. Ryokun confirmed that the anime only played an edited version of “HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI” because the second verse of the song was about the character Reze, who hadn’t appeared in the anime yet. The version of “HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI” in the film will be the longer variant of the song. This new version of the song is called “HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI (Estimated 70% Unlocked Edit).” In addition to the new song announcement, MAPPA confirmed that Japanese filmgoers will receive an exclusive booklet with cover art by manga creator Tatsuki Fujimoto.

Chainsaw Man Movie Band Has a History With Huge Anime Movies

Maximum the Hormone is a metal band that has been together since 1997. They’re most notable contribution in the world of anime is performing the second opening and ending themes for the Death Note anime. The band released the song called “F,” sometimes spelled as “[F],” in 2008. The song was a reference to the Dragon Ball Z villain Frieza, and served as a major inspiration for the film, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F.’ The song was even played in the movie itself, during the scene where Frieza is resurrected and during one of the climactic fights.

Everything to Know for the Music of the Chainsaw Man Movie

Kenshi Yonezu, who performed “Kick Back” for the first season of the Chainsaw Man anime, returns to the franchise to perform the opening theme for the Reze arc film, “IRIS OUT.” Yonezu also performed the opening themes for the early 2025 hit anime series Medalist and Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. Musical superstar Hikaru Utada, best known for performing the theme songs for every main Kingdom Hearts title, will sing “Jane Doe” for the ending of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. The film will be Utada’s first work used for an anime since performing the “One Last Kiss” for Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time in 2021.

The Chainsaw Man movie is set to open in Japanese theaters on September 19th. The film will then roll out worldwide throughout the fall, with its scheduled opening in the United States being October 29th. Sony Pictures and Crunchyroll will help distribute the film overseas. The movie is a continuation of the first season of the anime, covering the Reze/Bomb Girl from the manga. The arc focuses on Denji meeting a mysterious new girl, whom he falls head over heels for, while also dealing with a new, dangerous devil.
