One of the most hotly anticipated Shonen Jump revivals will receive another streaming home this fall. Many big anime titles are often released on multiple platforms, with Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Crunchyroll sharing the biggest shows each season. Disney owns a majority stake in Hulu, meaning there’s a significant overlap between the two platforms. Oftentimes, Hulu would receive Disney’s more mature titles or content that was released overseas on Disney’s Star platform. While Hulu is already getting many of the most anticipated anime of fall 2025, the platform can add one more project to its growing list of anime.
Hulu has shared a new trailer for the Cat’s Eye anime, revealing it will be streaming on its platform when it premieres on September 26th for viewers in the United States. Cat’s Eye is the new animated adaptation of the popular 1980s heist manga published on Shonen Jump. The series has already been confirmed to be streaming on Disney+, with the company promoting the anime on multiple social media platforms. For a while, it seemed as if Cat’s Eye would be a Disney+ exclusive before the Hulu trailer confirmed otherwise. Cat’s Eye is part of the “Star” branding for Disney, which incorporates Disney+, Hulu, and the Star platform found in countries outside the United States. Fans living outside the US will likely be able to watch the anime on Disney+ or Star.
Everything To Know About the New Cat’s Eye Anime
The new Hulu trailer for Cat’s Eye reuses footage and scenes used in previously released trailers. The Hulu trailer only confirms the anime will arrive on its service on September 26th. The original Cat’s Eye manga was published on Weekly Shonen Jump from 1981 to 1985. The classic manga was written and drawn by Tsukasa Hojo, a manga artist best known for his work with City Hunter and Angel Heart. The series stars a trio of sisters who run the Cat’s Eye cafe in Tokyo and live a double life as extravagant art thieves, stealing priceless art that once belonged to their absent father. Middle Sister Hitomi Kisugi serves as the main protagonist of the story, leaving behind a cat’s eye-calling card for the police to investigate. The Cat’s Eye manga was somewhat unorthodox for the time by having three female protagonists for an adventure series, which wasn’t common at Shonen Jump.
The manga was originally adapted into two anime series, Cat’s Eye from 1983 to 1984, and Cat’s Eye 2 from 1984 to 1985. The franchise also had a crossover movie with Lupin the III called Lupin the 3rd vs. Cat’s Eye in 2023 that streamed on Amazon Prime. Besides the animated adaptations, there have been several live-action dramas based on the classic manga. There was a Japanese-language live-action Cat’s Eye movie, which opened in 1997. The French Cat’s Eye drama show premiered internationally on Amazon Prime Video in November 2024, airing eight episodes, and was renewed for a second season. Liden Films, the same studio behind the 2016 Berserk anime, is producing the new Cat’s Eye anime.
