Fans of Akira Toriyama only have the opportunity for a short time to buy a previously unpublished original work of art by the late “Dragon Ball” mangaka. We summarize the details.

Unpublished work of art

The auction platform Mandarake Auction offers a hand-drawn color illustration of Akira Toriyama until September 5, 2025, which the robot girl Arale Norimaki from »Dr. Slump «shows how it is on the seat of a motorcycle.

The starting price was 3,500,000 yen (20,226 euros) on August 15, 2025. 22 bids have now been received and the price has already increased to 9,200,000 yen (around 53,166 euros). Since 193 users have also put the illustration on the memorial list, an exciting bidding finale will soon be imminent.

This is also not surprising, because the drawing dates from 1985 and is therefore already 40 years old. Their origin can also be understood: in the November edition of the “Monthly Bike Guide” magazine mentioned in 1985, Toriyama mentioned that he had made over 100 designs of a “charming motorcycle”, which served as the basis for the conversion of his own motorcycle.

In the interview, he also revealed that he had commissioned the famous custom motorcycle shop “K&S Sturgis” in Nagoya to conversion-and this shop now also put the illustration for auction, which closes the circle.

For all those who cannot afford the original drawing, there is a free picture under these lines. Please let’s know your opinion!
