At the beginning of the fall 2025 season, Crunchyroll experienced increased problems with the display of subtitles on various devices as well as delays in the provision of individual episodes or language versions. Now the streaming provider has officially commented on this for the first time.
Statement von Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll told the English-language website Anime News Network that the difficulties were caused by internal system errors that have now been fully resolved. The complete statement is as follows:
»In recent days, some users have experienced delays in accessing content and problems with subtitles for certain series.
These difficulties were caused by internal system issues – not by changes in our subtitle production, the use of new service providers or the use of AI. The internal problems have now been completely resolved.
High-quality subtitles are a core part of what makes the anime experience on Crunchyroll so special. They connect fans around the world to the heart of every story – and we are acutely aware of this responsibility.
Thank you for your patience. We remain true to our commitment to providing the authenticity, quality and care that all fans deserve.«
When asked, Crunchyroll’s spokesperson declined to say which software is used to create the subtitles.
