For Crunchyroll, the fall 2025 season has been anything but smooth so far – and subscribers are anything but thrilled. We summarize.
Again delays
Not only the controversial new subtitle format, but also a problem-filled start to the current fall 2025 season, especially due to the many delays in new simulcasts, are currently causing enormous frustration among subscribers.
Saturday, October 4, 2025 was particularly hard hit: Hardly any of the episodes planned for that day appeared on time – many were only published several hours later, and then some with missing subtitle languages.
Among other things, customers had to wait longer for the finale of “Silent Witch” as well as the new seasons of “My Hero Academia”, “Spy x Family”, “To Your Eternity”, “Tales of Wedding Rings”, “Let This Grieving Soul Retire” and “Kingdom”.
In online communities there is even talk of a “complete production failure,” with many fans suspecting the recent layoffs at Crunchyroll as the cause. However, an official statement from the streaming provider is still pending – as is an explanation about the major delays that occurred in August.
