As part of a restructuring, the Crunchyroll streaming service releases a number of employees to shift resources to high-growth markets outside the United States. We summarize the details below.
No cost reduction measure
Unfortunately, the exact number of employees at Crunchyroll is not known, but the company size is quantified with 1001 to 5000 employees – which some will probably have to say goodbye shortly.
The media industry leaf Variety was assigned an official message with which Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini informs the employees concerned about their termination. The exact scope of the layoffs is unclear, but all 14 locations in North America, Europe and Asia should be affected.
According to Purini’s internal announcement, Crunchyroll takes these changes in order to be able to focus more on rapidly growing markets such as India, Southeast Asia, Brazil, Mexico and Europe. It was expressly emphasized that the decision was not a cost reduction measure.
However, one is convinced that this new organizational model, in which regionally strengthened teams could go into even more specifically more specifically, is the right approach with a view to the next three to five years.
In addition, the establishment of competence centers is planning in the USA, Mexico and India, which should ensure better coordination and support the transformation process.
