Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Dandadan manga! Slug Season 2 is one of the hottest anime series of the year, continuing the thrilling Cursed House Arc from the first season. The truth behind Jiji’s house shocked everyone, but the trio still managed to survive the dangerous battle. After the intense fight against the Tsuchinoko and the Kito family, Momo and the others return home with a possessed Jiji. Controlling the Evil Eye is unheard of, and exorcising him is almost impossible. Even so, Seiko found a way to help Jiji, though he still wants to fulfill the promise he made to that lonely and scared child.

Jiji is trying to figure out a way to coexist with the vengeful spirit, but it’s more difficult than he imagined. Meanwhile, the series has been introducing new characters in the second season, with the latest arrival being the most shocking of all. No one could have imagined that the powerful Kaiju would turn out to be a mechanical suit controlled by a young girl, and that the girl would kiss Okarun in front of Momo right after waking up. So who is this girl, and what are her motives?

Taking down the gigantic Kaiju was no easy task, but the real surprise was discovering that it was being controlled by a young girl. Vamola doesn’t say a word before kissing Okarun, leaving Momo stunned. Despite her shocking entrance, Vamola quickly became a fan-favorite character, earning her place as one of the most beloved in the series. As many might have guessed, she is an alien, but her reason for coming to Earth isn’t sinister at all. She is the sole surviving child of her race, sent away to protect herself after her homeworld was invaded by an alien terrorist army known as the Kur.

Her backstory will be explored later during the Space Globalists Arc. For now, however, Vamola’s unexpected arrival acts as a temporary distraction from the budding romance between Momo and Okarun. Wanting to honor her adoptive mother’s wish, Vamola hopes to find a strong and suitable partner for herself, though she doesn’t pursue Okarun for long.

However, since she doesn’t show any hostility, everyone is welcoming towards her, except for Momo, who doesn’t hide her jealousy. It takes a while for Momo to open up to Vamola after her past comes to light. The girls even become close friends as Vamola joins the group and becomes one of the most reliable allies. The group continues to get bigger with the arrival of Kinta Sakata and Vamola, and more characters will join in the upcoming season.

Slug Season 2 Serves As a Prologue to the Series’ Best Arc

Ever since the Cursed House Arc, The second season has been laying the groundwork for the Space Globalists Arc, which will be covered in Season 3. The leader of the Kito family, who fled after her crimes came to light, was actually a member of a militaristic alien race known as the Kur, impersonating a human woman. He had been hiding his identity and scheming for over two centuries, only for his plan to be undone by a group of children, with Momo playing the biggest role in his downfall. What Momo doesn’t realize is that she has now made enemies with one of the most dangerous alien races in existence.

Even the Kaiju Arc and Vamola’s shocking introduction tie directly into the Space Globalists Arc. Vamola’s backstory will further reveal the Kur’s brutality, as they actively seek out planets to conquer and destroy. This arc is the longest in the series so far, spanning 47 chapters, and is often regarded as the best. Since both anime seasons have adapted 12 episodes each, it remains to be seen how Season 3 will handle such a large arc within the same format.

The anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix. The anime has covered up to Chapter 71, right before the finale of the Kaiju Arc. If you wish to know more about what will happen in the upcoming season, make sure to read the manga from Chapter 72 on the official Manga Plus app.
