Nobuiro Osawa, the chief producer of the popular fantasy anime “Danmachi: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in A Dungeon?” Recently commented on the greatest challenge in the production of the fourth season. We summarize.
Too large scope
In a conversation with CBR on the Hidive panel of the Anime Expo 2025, Osawa explained that the production team originally intended to implement three volumes of the original Light-Novel series again in the fourth season.
Already in the second and third season, three volumes were adapted after five volumes were implemented in the first season. For the fourth season, however, this project turned out to be difficult, since the volumes provided for this includes almost twice as many pages as the previous volumes.
Ultimately, this caused the fourth season to be expanded to 22 episodes, which on the one hand meant considerably more work for the production team and on the other hand led to certain discrepancies in the process.
Originalautor an Bord
In this context, however, Osawa particularly emphasized the great commitment and strong motivation of the team and emphasized that the endurance of the producers also contributed significantly to the continued success of the series.
In addition, original author Fujino Omori was directly involved in the screenplay supervision for the first time in the fourth season in order to ensure that the Light Novel Light as an anime series.
The anime adaptation of »Danmachi« currently comprises five seasons where Anime House holds the license. The first four seasons are already available on Blu-ray. A sixth season has not yet been announced, but Osawa recently explained that he would like to adapt “Danmachi” until the end of the story.
