Crunchyroll surprised people in August when the company announced that Hollywood superstar Channing Tatum would be voicing a character in the highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle. The news came as a shock to the general public, announced in the midst of the actor’s playing the role of Gambit in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Tatum is providing the English dub voice for the character Keizo, a major character in the manga with a deep connection to the backstory of the film’s villain, Akaza. Actress Rebecca Wang has also joined the English dub cast to voice Keizo’s daughter, Koyuki.

Crunchyroll has since shared a behind-the-scenes video showing the English dub cast performing for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castlewith Tatum among the actors recorded. Among the rest of the cast recorded in the voice booth are Zach Aguilar, Abby Trott, Aleks Le, Bryce Papenbrook, Alehandro Saab, and Johnny Yong Bosch. It should be noted that Tatum is in a completely different booth from the rest of the cast. Whereas most of the other voice actors are in a room with atmospheric orange lightning, which reflects the overall tone and aesthetic of Demon SlayerTatum is in a gray voice booth. The Hollywood star likely worked in a place that was the most convenient for him, allowing him to work on the film that fit into his busy schedule.

Channing Tatum Is in the Voice Booth for Demon Slayer

It’s honestly somewhat surreal to witness a star as big as Channing Tatum working on an anime project like Demon Slayer. Whereas celebrities have lent their voices for anime features before, most famously in Studio Ghibli movies, an anime series like Demon Slayer wouldn’t have been on Hollywood’s radar ten years ago. Demon Slayer would’ve been viewed as too niche, with only anime weeaboos caring about the series. Yet now, anime has become increasingly mainstream, with data pointing to the medium becoming one of the most-watched formats on streaming.

2025 is predicted to become the biggest year for anime yet, with Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle already breaking records in Japan. The film is already the highest-grossing movie of 2025 in Japan and the third highest-grossing title in the nation’s history. Anime isn’t just for nerds or people with specific interests now, as more and more of the mainstream audience openly admit to watching anime. Tatum discusses that he watches anime to bond with his daughter, which is what led to his casting in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. Tatum even attended the red carpet event for the US premiere of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castlehighlighting how involved he is in the movie’s marketing.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is now playing in theaters in the United States, opening on September 12th. The film is the first part of a planned trilogy that will adapt the Infinity Castle arc from the manga. The film trilogy will cover the story’s final chapters, delivering a finale that can satisfy fans of all types.
