Warning! Spoilers for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle to follow! Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is now hitting theaters with a brand new movie, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has given Tanjiro Kamado a much needed power up for the final battle. This massive trilogy has kicked off its adaptation of the titular Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series, and with it has thrown Tanjiro and the surviving Demon Slayer Corps members into the sprawling castle to fend off Muzan Kibutsuji’s demon army. And not everyone is guaranteed to survive through the night.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle kicks off a rather intense battle for Tanjiro as he comes across Akaza once more. First meeting the demon during the events of the Mugen Train arc, Tanjiro has been readying to face off the Upper Three ever since Kyojuro Rengoku was killed in action. As Tanjiro and Akaza face off (with some support from the Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka to take it all to another level), Tanjiro pushes himself even further beyond his limits to reach what is known as the “Transparent World” to keep up with Akaza’s speed and invisible attacks.
Demon Slayer Powers Up Tanjiro With the Transparent World

As Tanjiro faces off against Akaza in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castlehe begins to realize that Akaza is somehow countering all of his and Giyu’s attacks without even really seeing them move. Tanjiro realizes that Akaza seems to be ready to counter their moves before they even make them, and starts to think what could be the trick behind the technique. Focusing all on himself in the moment, Tanjiro flashes back to a memory with his father and starts to connect the dots all together.
His father might have been frail and weaker in his later years, but he was able to cut off a bear’s head with a single swing to protect the family. Tanjiro realized that his father wanted him to see this to show him the trick to fighting stronger opponents. Leading him to a new level of focus, Tanjiro enters what he describes as the “Transparent World,” which not only seemingly slows down everything around him but finally brings him to a level where he can keep up with Akaza’s overwhelming speed and power in that moment.
What Is the Transparent World in Demon Slayer?

As revealed in the film, the Transparent World is a new kind of focus that Tanjiro is able to lock into. With this new ability, Tanjiro can see every inch of Akaza’s body and can even perceive the smallest muscle movements just as the demon makes them. It’s on par with whatever ability Akaza has been using through his fights so far, and it’s what allows Tanjiro to bridge the gap in their abilities. It’s almost as if Tanjiro is allowed to look straight through Akaza’s body, and it’s exactly what Tanjiro needed.
This ability is also what it takes to help Tanjiro finally cut off Akaza’s head, and end the fight. There is some lingering movement after, as Akaza seemingly refuses to die (and almost evolves to a whole new state of being), but the demon is able to resolve his past traumas thanks to this fight with Tanjiro. Tanjiro had reminded him of someone from his human days, and it’s why Akaza seemed to hate Tanjiro in particular. But now that’s all resolved by the end of this first film. And this power-up might be what Tanjiro needs to live through the rest of the trilogy.
