Many fans thought that the current short film series on “Lycoris Recoil” was the new anime project announced some time ago. According to director Shingo Adachi, this is not true. We summarize.
Director clarifies misunderstanding
The mood of the “Lycoris Recoil” fans in recent years can truly refer to a wild roller coaster ride. After the end of the original series in the summer of 2022, the announcement of a sequel initially failed to materialize. A new project was finally confirmed around half a year later.
When the announcement of a short film series followed, the disappointment with many fans was great – they had hoped for more. But as director Shingo Adachi now clarified, it is not the new project mentioned above:
“You might think that these short films are the new work, but we also make a ‘new animation project’. We started working immediately after the end of the TV anime and go carefully, so please wait. If the short films arrive well, I would also like to produce more of it. “
As so often, patience continues to be required, but that is what anime fans are familiar with. In the meantime, if the impatience grabs, you can watch the short films that, like the original anime in Germany, are available at Crunchyroll. The sixth and last episode will be released on May 21, 2025.
