The Japanese toy and entertainment group Bandai Namco recently published its financial report for the past financial year- and, thanks to »Dragon Ball«, can look forward to record sales. We summarize.

Entertainment giant on record course

The completed financial year (April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025) may have caused jubilee storms at Bandai Namco, because the company’s total turnover rose by 18.2 % to 1.24 trillion yen (around 7.6 billion euros) compared to the previous year. However, the operating profit is even more impressive, which increase by a proud 98.7 % to a total of 180 billion yen (around 1.1 billion euros).

The “Dragon Ball” franchise made the biggest contribution to this success, which achieved the highest sales of all Banda-Namco brands with 190.6 billion yen (around 1.16 billion euros). In the previous year, sales were 140.6 billion yen.

This was promoted in particular by the broadcast of “Dragon Ball Daima”, the release of the video game “Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero «, the continued success of mobile games such as» Dragon Ball Legends «and the sale of merchandise.

But in addition to “Dragon Ball”, the other flagship franchises from Bandai Namco were also able to record record sales. “Mobile Suit Gundam” generated a total of 153.5 billion yen (previous year: 145.7 billion yen), with half of the turnover from the merchandise segment (gunpla model kits). “One Piece” achieved record sales of 139.5 billion yen (previous year: 112.1 billion yen).
