While Dragon Ball Super remains on hiatus following the passing of franchise creator Akira Toriyama, official Dragon Ball Super artist Toyotarou continues to be active, sometimes showing off his work for avid fans. As audiences await the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima anime and the eventual return of Super, Toyotarou has inked a brand-new color illustration of Goku for SDCC, currently being held at the San Diego Convention Center.
The latest edition of “Toyotarou Tried To Draw” came at SDCC 2024, with the Dragon Ball Super artist dropping a special color illustration of a confident-looking Goku. The image is the latest installment in a monthly series by Toyotarou and joins several new Dragon Ball releases made for, and ahead of, SDCC this year. Fans can check out the illustration below and even leave a suggestion in the website’s comment section for a possible future feature. Current suggestions include “Chi-chi in the same clothes as Goku” and “Goku using the Dragon Balls to revive Raditz.”
Toyotarou’s new Goku illustration joins the Dragon Ball merchandise and experiences exclusive to SDCC this year. These include figures, Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero and Fusion World gameplay demos and notably, Dragon Ball Daima merchandise. Daima‘s trailer followed a few days after the SDCC product announcement, introducing fans to new characters Glorio, Masked Majin and Gomah. A new key visual featuring “Mini” versions of Goku and Supreme Kai was also revealed.
