With the opening of an official website, it was announced that the manga series “Eren the Southpaw” (Japanese: “Hidarikiki no Eren”) is getting an anime adaptation. You can watch a first teaser below.

Start im April 2026

“Eren the Southpaw” is directed by Toshimasa Suzuki (“The Price of Smiles”) at the Production IG and Signal.MD studios. Taku Kishimoto is writing the script, while Takayuki Goto is contributing character design.

The main roles of the Japanese cast include Yumi Uchiyama (Emma Sano in “Tokyo Revengers”) as Eren Yamagishi and Shouya Chiba (Hairi Takahara in “Summer Pockets”) as Koichi Asakura. The series starts in Japan in April 2026.

The original manga series by Kappy was published from October 2017 to October 2022 in the “Shounen Jump+” app and in 24 volumes in Japan. The work is currently not available with either a German or English translation.

The young designer Asakura Kouichi works in an advertising agency. After being excluded from a hard-fought project, he seeks solace in the Yokohama Art Museum – the place where he once met the talented Eren.
