KSOC confirms talks with Hybe over Sunghoon’s potential visit to Korea House ahead of the closing ceremony
Hybe PR team denies Sunghoon’s possible closing ceremony and Korea House appearances
Sunghoon of Enhypen, a boy band under Hybe’s label Belift Lab, is in discussions to participate in the closing ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, a Hybe source has told The Korea Herald.
“Sunghoon is going to the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Italy next year, which will be held at the end of February,” the source said on condition of anonymity.
The official declined to comment on the details of his schedule, including the length of his stay and the exact role he will take during the event at Verona Arena.
A Hybe PR official, meanwhile, said, “There have been no discussions regarding Sunghoon’s attendance at the Olympic closing ceremony.”
Sunghoon, a former member of Korea’s national figure skating reserve team, was appointed as a promotional ambassador for the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee in May to help raise public interest in the Milano-Cortina Games.
The KSOC, which operates Korea House — a promotional center showcasing Korean sports and culture during the Olympics — confirmed it is also in discussions with Hybe about the K-pop singer’s potential visit there before the closing ceremony. The committee, however, clarified that it is not involved in planning or coordinating the Olympic ceremony itself.
“We are also in talks with Hybe regarding Sunghoon’s visit, but the details of the Korea House program have not been finalized yet. Specific plans usually come out one or two months ahead, likely by early December or January at the latest,” a KSOC official told The Korea Herald, Monday.
At his ambassador appointment ceremony on May 16, KSOC Secretary-General Kim Na-mi also highlighted the significance of having Sunghoon serve as ambassador ahead of the 2026 Winter Games, noting that he is expected to inspire the public to support national athletes and encourage greater participation in sports.
Regarding Sunghoon’s visit to Korea House, Hybe’s PR official said the company “cannot confirm” it.
KSOC ambassadors take part in various initiatives, including expanding interest in lesser-known sports, supporting sports rights, engaging through official social media platforms, participating in major events, offering talent donations and giving lectures to foster wider sports participation across communities.

빌리프랩 소속 보이그룹 엔하이픈의 성훈이 2026년 이탈리아에서 열리는 동계올림픽 폐막식 참석을 논의 중인 것으로 알려졌다.
익명을 요청한 하이브 관계자는 코리아헤럴드에 “성훈이 내년 2월 말 열리는 동계올림픽 폐막식에 참석할 예정”이라며 “체류 기간과 행사 내 역할 등 구체적인 일정은 확인이 어렵다”고 밝혔다.
다만, 하이브 홍보팀은 “성훈 씨 올림픽 폐막식 참석과 관련해서 논의 된 바가 없다”고 밝혔다.
성훈은 한국 피겨스케이팅 국가대표 상비군 출신으로, 지난 5월 16일 대한체육회 홍보대사로 위촉돼 2026 밀라노-코르티나 동계올림픽에 대한 국민 관심을 높이는 역할을 맡았다.
대한체육회 측 역시 성훈이 폐막식 개최지에 마련될 코리아하우스 방문 가능성에 대해 하이브와 협의 중이라고 전했다. 대한체육회 관계자는 “코리아하우스 방문 관련 협의는 진행 중이나, 프로그램 세부 내용은 아직 확정되지 않았다”며 “구체적인 일정은 보통 12월 초에서 1월 초 사이에 확정된다”고 설명했다.
김나미 대한체육회 사무총장은 홍보대사 위촉식에서 “2026 밀라노·코르티나 동계올림픽을 앞두고 피겨 선수 출신인 엔하이픈 성훈 씨를 홍보대사로 모시게 되어 뜻깊게 생각한다”며 “보다 많은 국민이 동계올림픽과 국가대표 선수들을 응원하도록 다양한 활동을 기대한다”고 말했다.
성훈의 코리아하우스 방문과 관련해서도 하이브 홍보팀은 “확인해 줄 수 없다”는 입장을 밝혔다.
대한체육회 홍보대사는 잘 알려지지 않은 종목 관심 확대, 스포츠 권리 보호, 공식 SNS(유튜브, 인스타그램, 블로그, 틱톡 등) 소통, 주요 행사 참여, 재능 기부, 강연 등 다양한 활동을 통해 지역 사회 전반의 스포츠 참여 분위기를 조성하는 역할을 수행한다.
