EXO is a South Korean-Chinese boy band formed by SM Entertainment. The group debuted in 2012 and originally had twelve members, which were divided into two subgroups, EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin), promoting their music in both South Korea and China. In 2019, three members left the group ( Kris, Luhan and Tao) and the remaining nine members continued as EXO. In 2020, SM Entertainment announced that the group would continue with four members: Xiumin, Suho, Lay and Chen, who will be promoting as a sub-unit named “EXO-SC” (Suho and Chen) and the remaining members continue promoting as a group “EXO”.
EXO has released six studio albums, four of which have been re-released as “special edition” versions. They have also released two live albums and two concert films. The group has won numerous awards, including the Mnet Asian Music Awards, the Seoul Music Awards, and the Golden Disc Awards. They are considered to be one of the biggest and most successful boy bands in the world, and have a huge fanbase around the world, called “EXO-L”.
