Earlier this year, as a part of Anime Expo, many anime fans were shocked when it was announced that Gate would be returning to the small screen after a decades-long absence. While a specific release date has yet to be revealed, when it comes to Gate 2’s arrival, this isn’t stopping Studio M2 from releasing new looks at the return via previews. To get fans hyped for this world that pits real-world military against magical and supernatural threats, M2 has released a new look at the Gate sequel that is sure to take the anime world by storm.
Studio M2 released an official statement for the upcoming season, alongside the new preview visual that reads, “We are proud to announce the production of GATE 2: Tides of Conflict in celebration of the GATE anime series’ 10th anniversary! Authored by Takumi Yanai and originally published by AlphaPolis, the GATE series has achieved widespread acclaim, surpassing 7.3 million copies in circulation (including digital editions) as of June 2024. It continues to captivate readers with its unique blend of military strategy, political intrigue, and fantasy elements. Nearly a decade after its first anime adaptation captured audiences around the world, GATE 2 will revisit the richly layered world fans have come to love. Gate Will Return
The translated description of the new visual via the Gate social media account reads as such: “The teaser visual has been released. Featuring Maritime Self-Defense Force member Hajime Tokushima and the otherworldly princess Primera Luna Avion, along with a submarine, this visual embodies the essence of GATE 2. Stay tuned for more updates!”
