On the X-account of the anime adaptation of “Gate” (Jap.: “Gate: Jieitai Kanochi Nite, Kaku Tatakaeri”), it was announced today that this will be continued as part of the celebrations for the 10th anniversary. We summarize.
Starting date still open
The sequel is a new series entitled “Gate 2: Tide of Conflict”. This is based on the first two volumes of the Light-Novel series “Gate Season 2”, which tells a new story about the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. A start date is still open at the current time.
Studio M2 (“Pluto”) is responsible for the production of the sequel anime, in which Toru Takahashi (“Inari Kon Kon”) directs the script (“Spice and Wolf: Merchant meets the Wise Wolf”). Shigeru Fujita (“Anemone: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution”) contributes the character design.
A first teaser and a visual are expected to be published in the course of next year. We keep you up to date.
The previous 24-part first “Gate” series was produced by A-1 Pictures and ran in two parts on Japanese television between July 2015 and March 2016. The publisher Anime House brought them onto DVD and Blu-ray in Germany.
