According to an IZE interview on July 23rd, Lee Seo-yeon signed an exclusive contract with Higher Music. The former fromis_9 star had been a free agent since the end of her group’s contract with Pledis Entertainment in December 2024. This year, Lee Seo-yeon will embark on her journey as a full-fledged solo artist by joining Higher, a renowned hip-hop powerhouse.
Higher Music is a hip-hop and R&B music label that is home to talented artists in the Korean Hip-hop scene, like Big Naughty (Seo Dong-hyun), pH-1, Lil Boi, and Woody Gochild. The agency, recognized for its musicality and influence, won the “Label/Crew of the Year” award at the 2021 Korean Hip-Hop Awards, the only genre music awards ceremony in South Korea.

Lee Seo-yeon debuted as a member of fromis_9 in 2017 after joining the survival show ‘Idol School.’ She was the group’s lead vocalist, usually known for her “killing parts” in their songs. fromis_9 has been well-known for their bright and refreshing songs such as “Supersonic,” “DM,” “Stay This Way,” and “We Go.” However, Lee Seo-yeon parted ways with her group members last year after they ended their exclusive contract with Pledis Entertainment.

Meanwhile, the other five members of fromis_9—Song Ha-young, Park Ji-won, Lee Chae-young, Lee Na-kyung, and Baek Ji-heon—have signed with ASND Entertainment to continue their activities as a group under the same name. They recently released their latest album, “From Our 20s,” with the title track “LIKE YOU BETTER” last June.
