From “HIT YA!” to MIA: What Happened to Lapillus?

Three years ago, Lapillus burst onto the Kpop scene with “HIT YA!,” grabbing attention with high energy, strong visuals, and undeniable potential. Fans, known as Lapis, quickly embraced the group, expecting a bright future. Managed by MLD Entertainment, Lapillus seemed ready to take over the stage. But now, in 2025, the excitement has turned into confusion. Instead of comebacks and activities, fans are left asking the same question over and over: Where is Lapillus?

Things started looking shaky when reports emerged that MLD Entertainment had quietly exited South Korea. Their old office? It now sells furniture. On top of that, the company reportedly cut down to just five employees after laying off most of its staff due to unpaid wages. That kind of upheaval can bring any group’s activities to a halt, and for Lapillus, it might have done exactly that.

Online, the silence is even louder. The official MLD website has disappeared and now redirects to a shady spam page. Their Naver profile is gone without a trace, and while MLD’s Twitter has been inactive since 2024, Lapillus’ own account hasn’t posted since February. That feels like a lifetime ago in Kpop years.

A few platforms are still hanging on. MLD’s Facebook page is still up. Lapillus’ Instagram shared a post as recently as 2025, hinting that the group may still be present behind the scenes. Meanwhile, their YouTube channel saw an upload three months ago, though it was for their fellow MLD group HORI7ON, not Lapillus. And perhaps the most worrying sign of all? The Lapillus trademark has officially been abandoned, a move that often signals a name is no longer in use or being protected.

Despite the chaos, Lapillus hasn’t gone completely silent. In April 2025, Chanty addressed fans directly and denied any disbandment. That single sentence lit up the fandom, but it also raised more questions. If Lapillus is still together, why is there no activity? No comebacks, no livestreams, not even a simple update. Chanty has since taken on a lead role in the Filipino drama, showing off her versatility as an actress. While fans are proud of her, it’s hard not to wonder if the group itself is quietly being shelved while members explore individual paths.

Yue posted on Instagram, “Happy 3rd Anniversary, Lapis. I still can’t believe it’s been three years. Sometimes when I close my eyes, I can still feel the nerves, the excitement, and the way our hearts all beat as one on that very first stage.” She went on to thank fans for their unwavering love, admitting that this journey hasn’t always been easy but promising to keep growing and working harder. “Three years is just the beginning. Let’s create three, ten, infinite more together.”

Seowon also shared a heartfelt message, expressing guilt and sadness over the group’s long hiatus. “I think I’ve been very tired without realizing it amid the long hiatus and uncertain promises,” she wrote. She recalled the emotions of their last performance, remembering the tears in the eyes of fans. “Where can I meet such good people and receive so much love? It’s so precious.”

Their words didn’t confirm a comeback, but they did confirm something even more important: the members still care deeply about Lapillus and the fans who stood by them.

Being a Lapis right now is an emotional tightrope. On one hand, the agency appears to be in shambles, the online presence is shaky, and official group activity is practically nonexistent. On the other hand, Chanty says they’re still together, and both Yue and Seowon’s messages feel like love letters to a story that’s not over yet.

In Kpop, silence isn’t always a goodbye. Many groups have taken long breaks and returned stronger. Maybe Lapillus is just regrouping. Maybe they’re facing hurdles that we, as fans, don’t yet see. The trademark may be gone, but the spirit of Lapillus clearly lives on through its members and their bond with fans.

So to all the Lapis out there, happy third anniversary. Whether the group is quietly preparing for a return or simply finding their way through uncertain times, this moment still deserves to be celebrated. Until there’s a clear answer, Lapis will continue to wait, hope, and stream “HIT YA!” like it’s day one. Because sometimes, all it takes is one comeback stage to bring everything roaring back to life.
