Ague Akutami recently spoke that his health would have deteriorated significantly shortly before the final of his manga series “Jujutsu Kaisen”-and thanked him for the help of a famous mangaka.
Health problems
“Jujutsu Kaisen” by GEITE AKUTAMI ended in September 2024 with manga chapter 271. However, many fans found the conclusion to be too abrupt, since in their opinion there were some strands of action and character developments incomplete.
Now Akutami revealed that he had suffered a collapse during the final phase of the publication. Thereupon “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda made a decisive contribution by establishing contact with a hospital in which Akutami underwent an appendix operation in June 2024.
This intervention was also the reason for the three -week break after the native 262 chapter. Even several other chapters of the final arch of action did not appear in the usual weekly rhythm.
Illustrations as a sign of gratitude
In the meantime, however, Akutami has recovered and thanked ODA with the provision of illustrations for »One Piece« collecting cards:
“After I had completely recovered and completed the series, I wanted to express my gratitude, but I couldn’t think of a suitable gift. After a few twists, I decided to reciprocate through my work.
I am pleased that I had the opportunity to draw Nusjuro. However, I was surprised that I got color guidelines for five characters. However, the challenge of developing color combinations that I would never have had on was an exciting and new experience. «
The two previous seasons of the anime implementation of »Jujutsu Kaisen« are available in Germany with German and Japanese voice output at Crunchyroll. A third season is in the works.
