German crude steel production in September 15.4 percent down on the previous year | news
FRANKFURT (Dow Jones) — In view of the high energy prices, the decline in crude steel production in Germany continued in September. At around 2.8 million tons, the total volume produced was 15.4 percent below the same month last year, as reported by the Steel Industry Association. The manufacturer Arcelormittal had recently throttled its capacities in two plants.
With the exception of February, the industry has recorded declining production figures in every month since the beginning of the year. In nine months, 28.2 million tons of crude steel were produced, 6.0 percent less than in the previous year.
