With series like Dandadan, Kaiju no. 8, My Dress-Up Darling, and Sakamoto Days all returning with new second seasons all at once, Crunchyroll has had quite a packed summer, as have fans with so much to choose from. Besides these returning series, the Summer 2025 season has also brought with it the debut of many new promising series like Gachiakuta, Ruri Rocksand so much more.

Of course, given the overwhelmingly positive reception their first seasons received, fans would expect maybe Kaiju no. 8, Sakamoto Daysor Slug to be the most streamed anime of the season. However, the numbers tell a completely different, unexpected story, with a beloved 2019 series coming back to dominate the rankings with its final season, leaving even Slug in the dust. According to a report by Flix Patrol, as of September 12th, 2025, Dr. Stone is actually the most popular anime on Crunchyroll at the moment, followed by The Water Magician and Slug in third place. Dr. Stone scored a total of 26 points on Flix Patrol’s ranking system while Slug scored 20, making this quite a landslide win.

Dr. Stone Science Future Becomes Crunchyroll’s Summer 2025 King

This ranking is based on Flix Patrol’s unique point system based on the ranking of the show around the world which goes to show just how vast Dr. Stone’s fanbase is even though their excitement about the series may not be as outspoken as that of new hyped series like Slug. Surprisingly enough, the rest of the ranking has also been made up of rather underrated titles. If you were curious, here’s the whole ranking by Flix Patrol:

  1. Dr. Stone
  2. The Water Magician
  3. Slug
  4. Clevatess
  5. The Rising of the Shield Hero
  6. I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince So I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability
  7. Kaiju no. 8
  8. Gala
  9. Welcome to the Outcast’s Restaurant
  10. New saga

All that said, it makes perfect sense that Dr. Stone is currently drawing the viewership that it is, given that the current season is the final installment of the six-year long saga. Things have been getting especially exciting in the fourth and final season which has been dubbed Dr. Stone: Science Future, as the series finally delves into its deepest secrets and mysteries. This includes the truth about the petrification of humanity and the preperation for Senku’s great space voyage. The final season has especially put the plot into high fear with the introduction of Stanley and Xeno, and with the most exciting plot twists yet to come, Dr. Stone will likely continue to hold on tight to that top spot on Crunchyroll for weeks to come.
