The streaming service Disney+ buried its “Star” section on the night from Wednesday to Thursday and replaced it with Hulu. We summarize.
Hulu replaces Star
Hulu is the new brand within Disney+ for content aimed at an adult audience. All titles previously available in the “Star” area are now housed there – including all anime content.
Hulu has existed in the USA since October 2007 and is now one of the best-known streaming providers there. Originally founded as a joint project between several companies, the service became fully owned by Disney in July 2025. As part of the global integration into Disney+, the standalone platform is expected to be shut down next year.
However, the Japanese branch of Hulu is an exception: it was sold to Nippon Television in 2014 and has operated independently since then.
In this country, “Bleach”, “Tokyo Revengers”, “Ishura” and “Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture” can be found on Hulu on Disney+, among others. The new sports anime “Wandance” has also been shown in simulcast since October 8, 2025.
