I-DLE announced a new beginning with the release of their eighth mini album, “We are.” It is their comeback in 10 months since the release of “I SWAY” in July last year. The signal of change was launched on the 7th anniversary of their debut. The team name change from (G)I-DLE to I-DLE has officially been effected.
At the showcase today, the day of the release of the new album, member Miyeon said, “I didn’t like the fact that G was attached in front of the group when we debuted,” adding, “If we succeed later, the members promised to get rid of G, and we were able to renew the contract and take off G.”
The title song “Good Thing” is captivating with retro instruments, witty 8-beat sound and addictive chorus. Point choreography using “Thumbs up” heralds the syndrome of “Good Thing.”
This is the first official album since I-DLE’s rebranding. With a five-person system, the special album “We are i-dle,” which reinterprets the group’s hit songs, “for (G)” to send them off, and “i-dentity trailer” were also introduced, painting the groups’s “memories” that were familiar to fans with unfamiliar and fascinating “now.”
The album contains six songs, including the pre-released song “Girlfriend,” “Love Tease,” “Chain,” and “You Can Do It.” All members participated in the lyrics and composition to build a world of their own. In particular, leader Jeon Soyeon took charge of writing and composing the title song and “Girlfriend,” bringing out the cool energy and sensibility unique to the group.
Along with the group’s return, attention is being paid to the various achievements that they will make in their new albums and tracks. As if foreshadowing a surge, “Girlfriend” released in the form of a pre-release exceeded 33 million views accumulated only 10 days after its release on YouTube.
