The 34th Seoul Music Awards ceremony (hosted by Sports Seoul, organized by the Seoul Music Awards Organizing Committee) was held at Inspire Arena in Jung-gu, Incheon on the 21st. Winner Kang Seungyoon, I-DLE Miyeon, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER Soobin hosted the ceremony.
ILLIT was named the winner of the first main award on the day. The main award is given to those who showed great performance in the main job moments of last year. They went on to win the Best Group Award, winning two trophies.
ILLIT said, “We feel so good and honored to receive the Bonsang. Thanks to the fans, we became a ‘lucky girl’ and it was a ‘lucky’ day.”
At the same time, they thanked the global fans in English, “Thank you for being with us.”
ILLIT made its debut by releasing its debut EP “Super Real Me” in March last year. Notably, its debut song “Magnetic” achieved 600 million streams, the fastest among K-pop debut songs based on Spotify, a global music service.
ILLIT then released its third mini album “Bomb” on the 16th, signaling another K-pop sensation. Currently, ILLIT is promoting the title song “Do the Dance” based on French House rhythm.
The “Seoul Music Awards” is an award ceremony that boasts the highest authority and tradition in Korea, which began in 1990. This year marks the 40th anniversary of Sports Seoul, and it has a special meaning.
