According to a current interview, Yoasobi regularly records losses outside of Japan – but still cannot be dissuaded. We summarize the details below.
Numerous successes
The pop duo Yoasobi is one of the most successful Japanese bands and, thanks to the growing popularity of anime, in which its songs have already been used several times, is also very popular internationally.
The title song “Idol” of the first season of “Oshi NO Ko”, for example, achieved a diamond certification within a year as the fastest song in the history of the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
In addition, Yoasobi’s song “Shukufuku” was recently awarded “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury” with triple platinum, and her new title “Watch Me”, the opening of the anime series “Witch Watch”, which has just started, could already be the next big hit.
Loss in overseas
Despite the international success, Yusuke Nakagawa from Asobisystem and Yohei Yashiro from Sony Music Entertainment announced in an interview that generally causes financial losses abroad.
Nevertheless, according to Yashiro, they would absolutely want to have the experience on this big stage, since they would receive a great input through their appearance in an unknown place and the subsequent applause of the audience.
Her goal is to convey impressively that Japanese pop music is by no means behind international music and has its very own charm.
The overwhelming success of Yoasobi and the J-Pop artist Ado and Atarashii Gakko! At the »Matsuri ’25: Japanese Music Experience« event in Los Angeles a few weeks ago, this would have been remarkable.
