On June 22, Haknyeon shared a lengthy Instagram post addressing the controversy that had followed him for over a week. It all started when he was spotted with former Japanese adult actress Asuka Kirara in Tokyo. That meeting quickly escalated into rumors, then accusations. A report from TenAsia claimed he had engaged in prostitution. Not long after, his agency, ONE HUNDRED, announced his removal from THE BOYZ.
But Haknyeon says the timeline was far from what the public thinks.
He claims he knew about the photos before the media got involved and immediately informed his agency. Rather than hiding it, he said he came clean and asked for help in managing the situation. He admitted to being in the wrong for the meeting itself, but firmly denied any illegal activity.

Trying to do what he believed was right, Haknyeon said he tried to minimize the impact on his groupmates. However, instead of receiving support, he was sent a termination agreement along with a shocking penalty fee of over KRW 2 billion (approximately USD 1.5 million). According to him, the amount wasn’t even enforceable under his original contract.
He refused to sign.
Just one day later, the agency went public with the news of his departure. Then the media firestorm hit. TenAsia published its article accusing him of prostitution. Online backlash followed instantly. Bloggers, YouTubers, and social media users began labeling him as a sex offender. The next day, someone even filed a police report against him using only the article as evidence.
Haknyeon called the entire situation deeply suspicious. The way everything unfolded so quickly made him feel like this was more than just bad timing. It felt like a setup. He said he feared that staying silent would leave him branded for life.
So now he’s fighting back.
In his statement, Haknyeon shared that he has filed a criminal complaint against the journalist who wrote the article. He also plans to sue the media outlet and the person who filed the police report. He believes all of this has been manipulated to justify his removal from the group.
The clause his agency used to terminate his contract was one about “damaging reputation,” but Haknyeon said it was too vague. He pointed out that the original contract only listed specific crimes such as gambling, DUI, or assault. None of which he committed.
While he apologized to fans for his actions, he made it clear that the punishment went far beyond what was fair. He called the experience a public execution of his character and said he cried thinking of his family and supporters.
Even though he’s standing alone now, he says he’s ready to face this legal fight head-on for the sake of truth, and for those still standing by him. As of now, his agency has not responded directly to his claims, but fans are already rallying around him, calling for transparency and accountability.
