Ju Haknyeon is officially out of THE BOYZ, following a whirlwind controversy that has left both fans and the Kpop community buzzing. His agency, One Hundred Label, confirmed his departure and the termination of his exclusive contract after news surfaced of his private meeting with retired Japanese adult film actress Asuka Kirara.

What began as a vague announcement of a temporary hiatus quickly snowballed into a full-blown scandal. On June 16, the agency announced that Ju Haknyeon would be stepping back from activities due to “personal reasons.” Just two days later, One Hundred issued a much more serious follow-up: Ju Haknyeon was out, for good.

In its official statement, the agency explained that once they were informed of the situation, they immediately suspended his activities and launched a thorough internal investigation. After verifying the details, they concluded that it was no longer possible to maintain trust in him as an artist. Discussions with the other members of THE BOYZ followed, ultimately leading to the decision to remove him from the group and terminate his contract.

The agency emphasized that this move was necessary to protect the remaining members and preserve the team’s integrity. “We kindly ask for your understanding that this decision was inevitable,” One Hundred stated, adding their commitment to supporting the remaining ten members of THE BOYZ in a healthy and stable environment moving forward.

The incident that triggered this dramatic fallout reportedly occurred in late May, when Ju Haknyeon was spotted at a bar in Tokyo in the company of Asuka Kirara. Witnesses described the atmosphere as intimate, with public displays of closeness drawing attention. When Japanese media outlet Shukan Bunshun sent an inquiry to One Hundred, the agency confirmed the event with Haknyeon himself. Rumors quickly spread, and Korean media outlets began to report on allegations of prostitution, citing unnamed industry insiders and alleged evidence uncovered during the agency’s internal review.

Ju Haknyeon responded to the situation in a handwritten apology posted on Instagram. While he admitted to attending the gathering, he denied any illegal activity and expressed deep remorse for his actions, stating, “I am deeply reflecting on my actions, and I sincerely apologize to everyone who was shocked by this matter.”

The fallout has been swift and unforgiving. For an industry where public image can be everything, the combination of personal controversy and fan expectations left little room for leniency. One Hundred’s response, though decisive, has left fans divided. Some express sympathy for Ju Haknyeon and question the severity of the punishment, while others believe the decision was necessary to uphold the group’s reputation.

THE BOYZ will continue as a ten-member team, with their agency now focused on moving forward.
