As part of its global expansion, anime producer Kadokawa also wants to pay more attention to works that are popular with the fans from overseas.
Western preferences in focus
According to Daijo Kudo, the Chief Anime Officer from Kadokawa, the media group plans to increase the number of IPS published annually from currently around 6,000 to around 7,000. A significant part of these works should be developed specifically for the international market.
Appropriately, the anime label Geexproduction of the GEEXPLUS Talentagentur Geexplus, which belongs to Kadokawa, was launched, which is aimed specifically at foreign creative people and is intended to help in the future to achieve this project.
Kudo pointed out that the topics of “zombie” and “vampire” have great interest worldwide. Already productions such as “Castlevania”, “Blood: The Last Vampire” or Dark Fantasy classic such as “Berserk” have impressively showed how well such content will be received by the western audience.
Despite these ambitious plans, the company would like to stick to its fundamental strategy and also in the future “Produce high -quality animations and market them in different ways”.
