King of the Hill’s revival was once a pipe dream for many fans who had come to know and love Hank, Peggy, and Bobby Hill. Almost one decade following the original series finale, co-creator Mike Judge and Greg Daniels still had some gas in the tank when it came to Arlen, Texas. Creating a fourteenth season that gave fans an adult Bobby, along with older iterations of Hank, Peggy, and many other characters of the animated series, the show’s return has been a big one for Hulu. Even following its opening week, King of the Hill’s fourteenth season is still hitting some major heights in the streaming world.
King of the Hill returned with new episodes on Hulu on August 4th, remaining as a part of the top five “Originals” for any of the platforms. While not retaining the top spot weeks following its debut, Hank and company are sitting pretty in the number four spot, garnering around 567,000 minutes watched for the week of August 18th to August 24th. In terms of the competition that surpassed Arlen during this time frame, Netflix’s Wednesday took the top spot, followed by Amazon Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Prettyand Netflix’s America’s Team: The Gambler And His Cowboys.
What Next For The Hills?
While not confirmed by Hulu officially, a previous report from the outlet Vulture not only stated that a fifteenth season was planned, but production had already wrapped for King of the Hill’s next batch of episodes. As of the writing of this article, the content of these future episodes and when we can expect them to arrive on the streaming service remain a mystery. Luckily, the latest season is one that gives us plenty of hints as to what might transpire in Arlen’s future.
One of the biggest storylines that is sure to be a part of King of the Hill’s future is the budding relationship between Bobby and Connie. The childhood friends rekindled their friendship early on in the revival, but as the season went on, the pair decided to take their relationship to the next level. As is usually the case with many things that happen in Bobby’s life, things didn’t go quite as planned, as the first dates between the two were littered with problems that almost made it seem that the universe was conspiring against them. Despite the hurdles, Connie and Bobby are still giving their newfound romantic relationship a shot for the future.
As for Hank and Peggy, it’s clear that Bobby’s parents are still having some trouble getting used to retirement. Hank, especially with his love of propane, made him a workaholic during his earlier years, and with that now gone, he has been looking for various ways to pass the time. This isn’t to say that Hank hasn’t found unique ways to fill his days, as the latest season sees him even falling in love with soccer in a wild twist.
