While the “Demon Slayer” fans are currently storming the Japanese cinemas, the creators of the anime adaptation revealed an interesting detail: The first “Infinity Castle” film was already in the works during the broadcast of the second season.
Over three years in progress
The Japanese anime studio UFOTable has already proven several times that it not only convinces with outstanding animation quality, but also through careful planning and efficient resource management. For example, the fourth season of »Demon Slayer« was completed long before it was broadcast.
The production schedule of the first »Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle« films was similar. According to an information sheet, which was accompanied to the theatrical release in Japan in some selected cinemas, the production of the approximately two and a half hour evening filler took about three and a half years.
It can be concluded from this that the work must have started at the latest at the latest – at a time when the “Entertainment District Arc” was broadcast in Japan and even the third season was not yet announced.
The decision to transform the “Infinity Castle Arc” into a film trilogy was even made almost five years ago – for the theatrical release of “Mugen Train”.
This meticulous planning now seems to be paid out, because the first “Infinity Castle” film not only ensured exceptional states in the Japanese cinemas, but has already broken the first records.
In Germany, the strip starts on September 18, 2025 with German dubbing and in the original sound with German subtitles in the cinema.
