Makoto Shinkai recently spoke that he only got to know his self-created characters properly through the live action adaptation of his early work “5 centimeters per second” (2007). We summarize below.
Doubting evoked
Just a few weeks ago, Makoto Shinkai, the creator of popular films such as “Your Name”, “Weathering with you” and “Suzume”, revealed that he was touched with tears in the pre-premiere of the real film of his work “5 centimeters per second”. But now the successful director went one step further:
“When I created the anime, I didn’t really know who Takaki and Akari [Protagonisten] were. Above all, I never fully understood what kind of woman Akari. But Matsumura, Takahata [Schauspieler] and okuyama [Regisseur] Taught it to me. I have the feeling that I finally got to know her. “
Shinkai took the opportunity to express his gratitude towards the actors and the entire production team. He emphasized that the film impressed him and that his initial skepticism compared to the real film had completely disappeared.
On October 10, 2025, the new evening filler finally celebrates its premiere in the Japanese cinemas. It is not known at the current time whether and when the strip will appear in this country. You can find a first teaser below.
