After more than three years, the anime adaptation of “My Dress-Up Darling” has finally returned, but the long wait had a reason how director Keisuke Shinohara revealed a few days ago. We summarize below.

“Big challenge”

With well-known competition such as “Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc” and “Attack on Titan: Final Season Part 2”, the romantic comedy “My Dress-Up Darling” was perhaps not the best title of the Winter Season 2022 for every anime fan, but the series has undoubtedly played in the hearts of many spectators.

The anticipation of a second season was all the greater, but this proud was long in coming and only celebrated its premiere on Japanese television a few days ago in the 2025 summer season-and as it turned out, a significant part of the waiting time flowed into the development of the script.

According to director Keisuke Shinohara, it was a major challenge to transfer the events of the manga series to the second anime relay. While the places of action of the first five volumes were ideal for the episode number of the first season, this was by no means the case when continued.

However, he still absolutely wanted to stick to the original template and neither want to make major changes nor cuts, which is why the planning phase had extended something.

We will find out what the result ultimately looks like at 6:30 p.m. when Crunchyroll releases the latest episode in the original sound with subtitles in the Simulcast. A German setting follows at a later date.
