Despite his years of experience as a voice actor, Nobuhiko Okamoto, the voice of Katsuki Bakugo from “My Hero Academia,” couldn’t hide his emotions at an event and was moved to tears by a scene.

Emotional burden

After almost ten years, the anime series “My Hero Academia” reaches its well-deserved finale with the eighth season currently broadcast in Japan, which brings the fight between the heroes and the Paranormal Liberation Front to its climax.

Nobuhiko Okamoto, who lends his voice to the character Katsuki Bakugo, has been there from the start and has built up a deep bond with his character throughout this time. How much the role moves him emotionally was clearly evident at a recent live dubbing event.

In front of hundreds of enthusiastic fans, he visibly found it difficult to read a few lines from the eleventh episode of the seventh season. As he himself admitted, Bakugo’s ordeal so far and the events of this episode moved him deeply to tears:

“I didn’t want to say to Deku, ‘I wonder if I can catch up with you.’ It was very difficult. I watched Kaachan for so long and I couldn’t stop crying.”

The eighth season of “My Hero Academia” can be seen in the simulcast on Crunchyroll every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. since October 4, 2025 in the original Japanese audio with German subtitles. The German language version appears three weeks later.
